Accommodation and Travel

Getting Here

The 926 Citylink bus runs from Glasgow 5 times a day (the midday one actually calls in at Glasgow Airport) and offers lovely views of Loch Lomond, the Arrochar Alps and Kintyre. At the weekends, booking is strongly recommended.

If you are driving and want to come by ferry, you have 3 options:
Ardrossan to Brodick then Lochranza to Claonaig with Calmac
Ardrossan to Campbeltown with Calmac
or Gourock to Hunter’s Quay with Western Ferries and Portavadie to Tarbert with Calmac.

Another option is to fly from Glasgow to Campbeltown.

We strongly recommend getting in touch with other competitors to share transport. enables you to offer or ask for lifts  to races.

A bus will be provided from Tarbert to the Start at Tayinloan at a cost of £4 but by the time you finish, public transport will be functioning.

Staying Here

This is not a holiday weekend so accommodation should be easier to find. Unfortunately our local Tourist Office has closed but Mr Google is very helpful.

There is no official camp site in Tarbert but at West Loch Shores Campsite  you can choose from self catering lodges or a campervan park and if you say that you are competing in the race, they will sort you out for a bit of camping. Anyone wishing to stay at the start in Tayinloan could contact Ferry Farm.
