Bus from Campbeltown to Tayinloan leaving 6.30. Book and pay on Entry Central. There is also a service bus at around the same time (tbc when summer timetable available) (free if you have a Scottish bus pass).
Relay teams are expected to organise their own transport.
Mass Start 08.15. There is a cut-off time of 11.50 a.m. at Carradale. Anyone not making the cut-off will have to retire and hand in their tracker and timing chip. If part of a relay team, the second leg runner will be able to start before you arrive and your total time will be adjusted. There is no cut-off time at Corrylach but third leg relay runners may also start early by arrangement.
The race is licensed by Scottish Athletics which means we go by their rules and guidelines. Please check here for a list of obligatory kit and safety rules
Check-in opens at 7.00 a.m. and there will be a mass start from the Village Hall at 8.15. There is no parking in the village as space must be left for buses. You can drop off a runner but you must go to the Ferry terminal to park.
Toilets, tea and biscuits will be available, also water.
Collect your bib, timing chip and tracker. Relay teams confirm their running order. One timing chip will be issued per team and used as the baton. Each individual runner will carry a GPS tracker. Relay teams will have distinct numbers e.g. 200+ so that non-running runners who go sightseeing or whizz around in cars will not cause alarm.
Drop bags will be taken to Carradale and Corrylach for you as well as a bag to the Finish. Please label clearly and place in the correct vehicle. Items left at the checkpoints will be returned to Campbeltown but only once the checkpoint closes.
Facilities en route:
Carradale checkpoint will have timing, drop bags, toilets, light refreshments, water, hot and cold drinks.
Corrylach checkpoint is in a remote area so will have timing, drop bags, portable toilet, water and limited refreshments.
There will be two water stations between Tayinloan and Carradale, two water stations between Carradale and Corrylach and one water station between Corrylach and the finish.
The finish arena is once again in the courtyard of Glengyle Distillery. Water and isotonic drink will be at the finish line.
Free showers and free massage will be available until 6 o’clock.
A tear-off slip on your running bib entitles you to soup, burger and a pastry as well as tea and coffee, again until 6 o’clock.
Funky Chicken will be there to keep the kids entertained.
In addition this year, to celebrate our 20th birthday, we will have music and a bar, courtesy of sponsors Kintyre Gin, until 9 p.m. Additional meals can be purchased from the Hot Tin Diner trailer.
The cutting of the cake and prizegiving will take place at 5 p.m.
Prizes sponsored by Kintyre Gin will be awarded to the first 3 men. Prizes sponsored by Kilkerran will be awared to the first 3 women. Prizes sponsored by Fyne Ales will be awarded to the first 3 relay teams. The first male and female over 50 will also receive prizes.
Mementos: The coasters and frame have been very popular (and are available if you are still trying to complete the set) but we will be giving everyone a bag and badge to start your new collection.
Entries open on 1st January and close on 11th April. When entering you will be expected to have ensured that you are fit and experienced enough to complete the race and to have read and agreed to the kit requirements and safety information. Remember to book and pay for the bus and to state any dietary requirements relevant for the meal and the cake.
We look forward to welcoming friends old and new!
