OBLIGATORY KIT:
Personal first aid kit including hand sanitiser or wipes, blister plasters, sun cream, personal medication such as inhaler,
Water supply (Min 1litre and preferably 2l bladder plus cup or similar for water stations). Top-ups will be provided at checkpoints and intermediate points in each section. There will be no disposable cups.
Emergency food (energy bar or something tried and tested.)
Whistle. The emergency signal is 6 short blasts, repeated as necessary
Mobile phone, with our support numbers stored in your mobile. Mobile signals are weak in many places and vary according to your network but you can sometimes send and receive a text even when you have a weak signal or you may have to find someone on a different network. We have tried to locate water stations where there is a decent signal but these are not 100% guaranteed.
Full body cover must be brought to registration. A decision will be made on the day whether you need to carry this during the race (depends on weather) and if not needed you can pop it in your finish bag.
Foil survival blanket.
POLES
As per SAL guidelines, the use of walking poles is permitted.
SAFETY
You are responsible for your own safety and that of fellow-runners.
With safety in mind, please follow these simple rules:
No ear phones
No dogs
Always stop to help an injured competitor. This may involve making them comfortable and going on to a checkpoint or somewhere with a mobile phone signal.
Wear your number on your front where it is visible at checkpoints and water stations to marshals who are checking you through.
As your medical details, next of kin etc are on the back of your number, it cannot be swapped with anyone else.
At road crossings, follow marshals’ instructions to wait until traffic is clear and to walk across roads. This has been agreed with Police Scotland.
When running along a road, keep on the right.
